Product options and custom fields,
with an add-on price that sticks
Ask for engraving text, a finish, a size or a gift box on the product page. The extra price is added in the cart and at checkout by a Shopify cart transform that works it out again from your saved options, so it can’t be changed in the browser. Your variants stay native. Flat monthly price, no order limits.
Three steps
Install, build an option set, add the block to the product page. Sets stay drafts until you turn them on.
Build an option set
Add fields: text, number, dropdown, radio buttons, swatches or checkboxes. Give any choice an extra price: a fixed amount, a percent of the price, or per character. Pick the products, or all products.
Add the block to the page
In the theme editor, add the “Product options” block to the product page, near the add-to-cart button. One block shows every set that applies to the product.
Check the cart
The shopper’s choices travel with the item as line item properties. In the cart and at checkout the item shows its own price plus the add-on, and the order keeps the choices for you to fulfil.
What shoppers see
The fields appear above the add-to-cart button, with the extra price next to each choice and a running options total. Required fields are checked before the item is added. Conditional fields (Pro) show or hide as an earlier answer changes.
Good to know
- How the price is added. A Shopify Function (cart transform) reads the option ids from the line, works the extra out again from your saved set and expands the line into the item at its own price plus a hidden “Options add-on” item at the extra amount. The browser never sends a price, and the shopper can’t remove the add-on on its own. It needs a store on checkout extensibility, which new stores already use.
- Native variants. Options don’t create variants. The item keeps its own variant, price, stock and SKU. The app creates one unpublished product named “Options add-on (AppVerix, do not delete)” with a zero-price variant that carries the add-on; don’t delete it.
- Not supported. Products sold with a subscription (selling plan) can’t get an add-on price. There are no file uploads. Express checkout buttons that skip the product page skip the options too.
- Required fields are checked in the shopper’s browser. A hand-made request that leaves the options out would be sold at the base price, so use required fields for information you need, not as a price lock.
- Themes. The block adds its inputs to the product form, which works with themes that submit the form normally or with a script. A theme that builds its own form from scratch may need a look; write to us with the theme name.
- Limits. Starter: 3 sets on, 8 fields per set, 25 products per set. Pro: 25 sets, 20 fields, 250 products per set and conditional logic. A set can also be applied to all products. Drafts don’t count.

Billed by Shopify in USD every 30 days. Draft sets don’t count toward the limits. Development stores are charged as a test.
Questions
Do I need Shopify Plus?
No. The add-on is priced by a cart transform that expands the line, which works on every plan. It needs checkout extensibility, which stores on the new checkout already have.
Can shoppers get the options without paying the extra?
The price is worked out on Shopify’s side from option ids and your saved set, not from a price sent by the page, and the add-on can’t be removed on its own. A hand-made request that sends no options is sold at the base price, so treat required fields as a convenience, not a lock.
Does it create variants?
No. The item keeps its own variant, price, SKU and stock. The extra is carried by one hidden “Options add-on” product that the app creates; don’t delete it.
Does it work with subscriptions?
Not for the add-on price: Shopify doesn’t allow this kind of line change on a line with a selling plan, so those lines are left unchanged.
Does it work with my theme?
It adds its inputs to the product form with the standard property names, so it works with themes that submit the form normally or with a script. Check one product on your theme before you rely on it; custom forms may need an adjustment.
Can shoppers upload files?
Not in this version. Text, number, dropdown, radio, swatch and checkbox fields are supported.
Does the price go up as the store grows?
No. Starter is $9.99 a month and Pro is $19.99 a month, both with unlimited orders. The difference is how many sets can be on and the field, product and logic limits.
What happens when I cancel?
Cancel in Settings or uninstall. The cart transform is taken down, so add-on prices stop applying and the block shows nothing. After an uninstall Shopify sends a shop/redact request and we delete the store’s sets and settings. The option data the app wrote on your products and the hidden add-on product stay in your store until you delete them.
